March 2005

so... march

well, well. it's been a while. as you can see, things are a little different here at the 'blog. while nothing dramatic has changed, this actually represents a huge accomplishment for me.

a short history: i started journaling online more than three and a half years ago and since then my weblog has seen many changes. the title has changed from the oh-so-sophomoric "life and times of andu spinx" to the apparently-more-sophisticated (because it's in another language) "paseo del río." i started out using blogger, but when i got my own domain and was privy to the features included therein, i upgraded to the more flexible movable type. this worked great for a long time, but eventually i fell victim to an entire armada of comment spammers, leaving me thoughtful messages about penis enlargement and rogaine at approximately the rate of 200 a day. failing to find a solution to the problem, i resorted to xanga, because hey, it was popular and easy to use.

long story short: no one place on the internet had my entire archive of posts from the very first to the most recent. until now. through hours of work, i've compiled all of my posts from blogger, movable type, and xanga, and have now written my own blogging software which will hopefully suit me until one day i get a life. also included are any comments i could dig up from old posts. many of these have been lost but what could be salvaged is here. for the meantime, you can only read old comments (and i don't have the individual entry pages formatted nearly how i would like them, but it will do for the moment) but not post new ones. this and the ability to browse through archives will be coming soon, more for my perusal than for anyone else's.

so... march.

it's been a long month, and this post is as much about finally updating as it is meant to actually get a post in for march before it's over. where to begin?

as much as i search for other things to begin with, the thing that seems to weigh the most on my mind is my rejection from ut's school of music. yes, despite being told repeatedly i had nothing to worry about, in the end i proved myself correct, to my dismay. so where do i go from here? your guess is as good as mine; i never had a contingency plan. for now, i've been put into my ill-conceived second-choice major, linguistics, when what i should be taking is computer science.

i have no idea where i'm living next year. my ut housing contract was cancelled, and i can't find anyone to live at dobie with me.

at the moment, thien-ky and i have been forcibly put into separate orientation sessions by the university, so i'll be spending a fun-filled four days all by myself come summer.

... it's getting harder to keep up the sheer excitement i once had for going to college. but in happier news:

i have an awesome prom date! i asked m-chelle m. about two weeks ago with a colored page from a candy land coloring book saying, "will you go to þrom with me?" and she responded, "heck yes i will!" tentatively, the plan is for me to wear a brightly colored tux matching the flipflop/sandals that she will be wearing with her formal dress. i'm excited.

band trip is tomorrow. chicago is going to rock. it had better. more updates on the flip-side.
