first post!

8 days until high school starts!

*cheers* i think i actually got this thing to work. only little bits and pieces of things that need to be added now. i didn't really do much today... i'm spending my last week of summer... well... loafing. :o) so i worked on this site. got to go to band camp, which was fun, but tiring. and good thing i didn't mess up. they have a new policy: thou shalt not mess up or thou shalt do push-ups. tomorrow, i'm going to a lan party over at chris's house - should be interesting. for now, i'm just going to play with this thing some more. :o)

band camp, cont'd

7 days until high school starts!

yikes. i am so tired. that allergy medicine does wonders to your body. for future reference: allergy medicine + marching band camp = bad. so band camp was fun, even though i can't feel my legs now. guess what? we actually got to march and play at the same time (an "ohh ahh" is heard in the distance). for those of you who have never been in marching band, try this - get a heavy object (such as a phone book), hold it in front of your face, turn your entire upper body 90 degrees to the right, and walk forward while facing right. you must walk in a straight line, and the object you are holding may not wobble or move. enjoy. :o)

at the lan party, i got to use the ghetto desk again!! w00t! i love the ghetto desk. :op (don't ask). we played half-life and stuff and i kept dying!! what is up with that? it might have something to do with that fact that i suck at all video games. yeah, that must be it. and chris gave me a video card for my new pc that i'm building. yay! i cannot wait to buy it. it will r0x0rz.

thoughts on entering high school

6 days until high school starts!

band camp again today. it really hadn't hit me until just recently that i'm actually going to be going to high school. it's kind of a scary thought, especially since i will be going to a school with a graduating class larger than the entire population of my junior high. it's amazing, really, how fast junior high went by... i mean, i still remember my sixth grade locker number and combo. and my best friend's. this is about the time of year when everyone asks themselves, "where did all that time go?" i'm going to be 15 - i'll be getting a driver's permit, i'll be in high school and in marching band... and yet i still don't feel like i'm actually old enough to be doing these things. i mean, i'm going from being the one of the oldest people at school to one of the youngest. it's a hard transition to make. it is so weird going to a school with people who have facial hair. :op

i got a call from the counselor at the high school today. she said that i did, indeed, place out of one semester of english, and one semester of world geography. i was so happy. for those of you who don't know, my 8th grade english teacher probably scarred me for life. or at least made me completely hate the subject of english. and since i will not be going to english until the second semester, i now have 18 extra weeks to read my required summer reading!! w00t! geez, i'm such a slacker. that's one of the things i'm worried about in high school. i know i can do well if i try, but so far i haven't been able to make myself try...

here is my schedule for 9th grade:

pre-ap biology (2 semesters)
pre-ap geometry (2 semesters)
pre-ap world geography (1 semester)
pre-ap english (1 semester)
spanish i (2 semesters)
architectural graphics (2 semesters)
communication applications (1 semester)
health (1 semester)
marching band (2 semesters)
concert band (2 semesters)
total: 16 semesters

5 days until high school starts!

so today was our last day of band camp, and i have to say - it's really been a great experience for me. especially now that i am in a band with so many talented people (much different than junior high band), i have to push myself harder to be at par with them. and it's really enjoyable to know that you're working hard and achieving the things that you want. i'm such a band geek. :op oh, by the way, if you'd like to pledge money for our band car wash fund raiser that will be held on august 25, that would be awesome. all money collected will go to buying new equipment for the band, as well as funding our band trip later this year, and covering travelling costs when we go to out-of-town games, and when we go out to contest at the end of the year. the suggested amount is 5 cents per car (maximum of 200 cars, or $10), but any amount is fine. you can also just donate a flat rate, which is what most people do to save me from having to come back later and collect the money. and again, most people give $10. if you'd like to help us out, send me an email at the address to the left, and we'll set something up.

currently, my sister is at her sixth grade orientation. i think she's really excited about going to junior high, and i can't wait for her to get home with her schedule so i can tell her that she has all the mean teachers. ;o) i'm such an evil person... my brother will be going into third grade next year, and we don't know what teacher he has until we go up the the school and check out the list. gosh, it's been so long since i was in third grade. sometimes i wish i could be back in elementary school again, but i'm starting to realize that high school is so going to rock. finally, i have more freedom, and i feel like i'm not being looked down upon like a child. ooh! my sister just came home. she has mean teachers for homeroom, math, and history, but nice ones for p.e., science, and english. we'll see how that turns out. while we're on the subject of family, i might as well give a run down on my parents. my mom is in her third year of medical school, and my dad is a long-time engineer at nasa. so there you have it, my wonderful family. :o)

i have ninth grade orientation tomorrow, also known as fish camp. that's when i'll get my schedule and locker assignment and everything. i'm kind of excited about that. afterwards, i have a band pool party, so i might now be able to make a post because i'll be too tired to bother, but i'll try. :o)

4 days until high school

4 days until high school starts!

well, i got home from fish camp early, so i'll make this post now, before i go to the band pool party. fish camp was fun, and i got my schedule and locker. finally i got a top locker!! my schedule kind of sucks, though, since i have to change buildings in between every single class. most people don't have to change buildings at all. and i only get 7 minutes to do it. looks like andy will be sprinting in between classes. :op

i happened to meet danielle today. rather, she happened to seek me out i should say. danielle is a very unattractive girl who asked me out the first week of sixth grade. my answer was "who are you?" she went crying back to her desk. i felt bad about it at the time, but i know now that i made the right choice. she has asked me out to every movie, every school event, and every everything for the last three years. she tells people that i am her boyfriend. okay, once, when we were at the movies with a big group of friends, i made a point of having my friend shane sit between danielle and i. well, when shane got up to go to the bathroom, she moved over, and sat by me. then she started drinking out of my coke. barf. needless to say, i let her have the rest. and the last thing she said to me before today was on the last day of eighth grade: "andy, you're my soulmate." so today, she comes up to me and says "andy!! it's been so long!" and rested her head on my chest. i decided i was sick of it, so i pushed her off and walked away. so later she came up to me and said, "chris ainsworth just squeezed my boobs and said they were squishy!! go beat him up for me!!" that was when i broke. i said, "danielle, i'm not your boyfriend. i'm not even your friend. now leave me alone." and walked away. she followed behind me saying, "andy, you come back here right now! you are being very mean! maybe if i smile, you will be nice to me. see, look, i'm smiling!" eventually she stopped following. so there's my sob story for the day.

i am so so so so so so happy!! results for band auditioning were posted today, and i made second chair concert band!!! woohoo! the bands go in order like this, from best to... well.. not best: wind ensemble, symphonic, concert, and cadet. 90% of freshmen make cadet band. and the best part about it was that this kid named billy announced that he thought i sucked. and he got third chair. ha ha!! sucks to be him. :op okieday, time to go get ready for the pool party!

3 days until high school

3 days until high school starts!

sheesh, my brother is such a nut. tonight, he went in his room and took the doorknob off, effectively trapping himself in his room. i had to rescuse him. then he decides his feet aren't big enough, so he put 20+ pairs of socks on at the same time. this caused him to lose his balance and fall into my cup of coke, knocking it over. then he starts sopping up the coke with the socks after removing them. then, as he was running to find something to clean up the rest of the coke, he slips on a wet sock. ::shakes head:: i don't know what to do with him. :op

other than that, my day wasn't very eventful. i just stayed home alone all day and lounged around. it was relaxing. hehe.

happy 17th anniversary mom and dad!

2 days until high school starts!

eee! tomorrow is my last day of summer!! :o( i suppose it was good while it lasted, though i'm still nervous about starting high school. today was a good day - i went school shopping and got some new clothes, including a shirt that says "when is the wizard going to get back to you with that brain?" hehe. and also a spider-man t-shirt. after that, i went to this expensive french restaurant with my best friend, our moms, our sisters, and a bunch of our sisters' friends and sisters' friends' moms. :o) catch all that? then we headed over to the movie theater and all the girls saw the princess diaries (which apparently was very good) and bryan and i saw rush hour 2. hilarious movie. so, i'm really tired now, and i think i'm going to go read heir to the empire which i started last night.

high school starts tomorrow! so

high school starts tomorrow!

so this is it. summer is officially over. *sigh* it went by way too fast. i suppose, though, that it's not so bad, since i will be going to high school. finally i actually feel like i'm not a little kid anymore. well darn, i just thought of something.... i have no countdown to put at the top of my posts anymore. maybe a countdown to my birthday. :o)

well, i suppose tonight was fun. my family went out to eat, and then we came home and went swimming.... so i'm still wet. and i think they're making popcorn balls in the kitchen right now. yummy. the only part that sucks about this whole deal is that i have to go to sleep soon. :o/ i gotta wake up at 6. yuck. well, wish me luck in high school. here goes nothing. :o)

gah!! i am too tired

gah!! i am too tired to lift my fingers... well the first day of high school went great. however, the first night did not. so i got homework from my stupid geometry teacher on the first day to come home and research some stupid people. so i worked on it for hours and came up with pretty much nothing... and that kept me up until midnight, which is why i didn't write yesterday. well now i have to finish it tonight on top of speech homework. i just came from 5 hours of sleep, sprinting between classes, and 2 hours of marching practice... ::starts to cry:: and i have a ton of homework and school shopping i have to do tonight. ::falls over dead::

wake me when it's over.

yet another exciting day in

yet another exciting day in the life of andu spinx. well not really since all i did was go to school and marching practice. marching practice... ugh. :o) it is so freaking hot down here, and we have to march outside at 3 o'clock. my arm looks funny now because i have a tan line where my watch was. tonight i watched gladiator... what can i say? it was an awesome movie. and i just recently bought the soundtrack. hans zimmer is so awesome. especially track #3 - the battle... i love putting that one on repeat. in fact, i think i will do that now. actually i need to go to sleep. if i go to sleep now, i'll get seven hours of sleep. bleh. :op

yyyyyyaaaaaaayyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it's friday! :o) and

yyyyyyaaaaaaayyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it's friday! :o) and i survived the first week of school. tonight my family went out to wendy's for dinner and then over to the balloon glow that they were holding over at the johnson space center open house tonight. 'twas fun. i think i'm really going to enjoy high school, even though it makes me so tired and overworked... i get a feeling of accomplishment, and that's nice. tomorrow == band car wash @ grandy's. be there. we'll be out there from 8 to 11. get free car wash. free is good. with that, i think i am going to bed. i am the tiredest link. goodnight!

weekends are entirely too short.

weekends are entirely too short. so today i woke up at about 10, then immediately started working on chart cards for band. those took me until about 4 o'clock and then i went to go get them laminated and look at minivans with my dad (since we're buying one soon). we got back at five. then i made dinner, watched some tv, and now i'm working on geometry homework. i'm taking a break, and i still have about half an hour of work left. by the way, we washed 243 cars at the car wash, so if you pledged money, please send the appropriate amount asap with all checks payable to clhs band booster club. :op i wanna go to bed.

::sigh:: on a completely unrelated

::sigh::

on a completely unrelated note, happy birthday andorus! :od check your mail sometime tonight or tomorrow. :o)
